DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION'S INSTRUCTIONS TO SCHOOLS ON SWINE FLU

In the light of the recent spread of H1N1 ( Swine flu) infections the following instructions are issued to schools/ colleges in particular and the citizens of Rayagada district in general:
1. Avoid congregation/ mass prayers or public gathering of any kind other than in cases it is highly required.
2.Teachers should screen all children for symptoms, such as persistent fever, cough, cold and running nose. Such students should preferably be told to take rest at home till they are well. Children should be taught keep and use handkerchief during coughing and sneezing at all times.
3.Student and parents should be sensitized properly to change school dress immediately after reaching home and the habit of regular hand wash be cultivated.
4. School authorities should not close down the colleges/schools without informing the district administration as it would generate panic among the people.
5.All necessary arrangements have been made for testing and treatment in case somebody is found affected with this disease and the students and parents need to be informed about the same.
Along with these the following household mesures are recommended to prevent infection of Swine flu, people can use any of these according to their convinience:

1. Consume plenty of Vitamin C, by eating citrus friuts such as orange or their juice. the simplest and afforadable ay is to consume plenty of lemon juice.
2. Chew one or two cloves everyday or inhale clove oil number of times in a day.
3. Make a concoction ( juice) of 'Tulasi ' leaves, add honey to it and take thrice a day. This is specaially recommended for children in the age group of 1-6 years.
4. Make handwashing by soap or hand sanitisers a habit, particularly when you shake hands with people. It is a must to do so before you handle your children, when you have returned from outside.
5. The traditional practice of taking hot milk with turmeric before going to sleep is very helpful in this matter.
